Dr. Nicholas Caro is a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin. After receiving his medical degree, he completed an internship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago followed by a residency in the department of ophthalmology. Dr. Caro is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a licensed physician and surgeon in Illinois and several other states.

He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Illinois Medical Society, the Chicago Medical Society, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery and the Summit Fellowship Program.

Dr. Caro completed his initial training in refractive surgery at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in 1985 and continues to update his medical education at various approved annual ophthalmology meetings. Since 1992, Dr. Caro has been lecturing around the world, training other ophthalmologists in the latest techniques available in refractive surgery. Most recently he has taught physicians in China and Germany.

The doctor continues to teach LASIK surgery both nationally and internationally. He has trained many of the Chicago area refractive surgeons who now perform the procedure. In addition, he has designed instruments that are now used in LASIK surgery.

The St. George Corrective Vision Staff is trained to explain refractive surgery procedures to you and to assist the physicians. Surgeries are staffed, not only by the physician, but also by a surgical assistant and nurse anesthetist.
